With a few colorful exceptions, I have limited my law practice to the area of family law since opening my office in San Diego County in 1996. I enjoy the personal nature of family law and find the issues I encounter often extend in interesting ways to other legal disciplines. I also find that, as with medical professionals, we attorneys are more often able to serve our clients well when we hone our expertise in a primary practice area.

I am a certified specialist in family law, which means that I have undergone a review of attorneys and judges in San Diego County, have passed a supplemental exam administered by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, have participated in ongoing legal study, and have had significant experience in a variety of legal procedures, both inside and outside of courtrooms.

I am involved in litigation (hearings and trials) and alternate dispute resolution (arbitration and mediation). Different approaches are suited to different situations and circumstances. Whether litigation or an alternative approach to resolving a family law dispute is indicated, my clients come to me because they know I am sincere and that I take their cases very seriously.

I use a team approach in all my cases, whether the team is comprised of my wonderful staff or whether the circumstances indicate the need for involvement by attorneys in other practice areas or expert witnesses. I have worked collaboratively with criminal attorneys, personal injury attorneys, military attorneys, appellate attorneys, mental health professionals, and psychological experts.

I have strong ties to San Diego County. I grew up in San Diego and attended San Diego public schools. I became acquainted with the legal community as a young person because my father, Charles W. Froehlich, Jr., was active as a lawyer and as a local bar association president. I became familiar with the Superior Courts in San Diego county when my father was appointed to serve as a Superior Court judge. A few years later he was appointed to the California Court of Appeal. I am very proud of his many published decisions.

After careers as a professional musician (violinist) and a wine seller for San Pasqual Vineyards, now Orfila Vineyards (in the San Pasqual Valley near Escondido), I returned to San Diego county to open my law practice. I opened my first office in Oceanside near great Mexican food and beautiful ocean views. Later I moved my office to Vista, which has become northern San Diego county's legal center.

I have a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. I also have a Master of Music from the University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. I look for opportunities - such as San Diego Symphony concerts or performing informally on the violin - to balance the intellectual and emotional intensity of practicing law.
